Oliver Cukor says:

The theatrical version is 16:9 ratio… come on… the movie is the most boring movie I’ve seen in years.

The Watchman says:

Love your work! Great review! I totally appreciate the Shining reference. I really saw that Kubrick influence coming through. The cast was amazing, but Toni Collette owned it! Aster is destined for huge things I think. I have to say the means to the conclusion was far better than the end… Overall I loved it though.

LithgowMovies says:

People were laughing at Peter's reactions all the time, even when he was supposed to be emotional and dramatic… and they went nuts in the end too. I don't know, this movie is weird and I don't think young audiences understand it.

Gregory de Graaf says:

Would you eat a porg ?

Awkward Arsic says:

As always, great review Perri! This movie gave me chills multiple times, I loved the shocking imagery and the performances were incredible. This was a solid 9/10 for me.

Jeff Wasson says:

I was fortunate enough to see an advanced screening of this two weeks ago in Toronto that included a Q&A with the filmmaker. Ever since I was curious to hear your impressions of the film. I echo all of your sentiments regarding the artistry at work in the making of the film. Although, I think I bought into the ending a bit more than you upon first viewing. I thought it was a really gutsy way to go! I definitely want to see it a second time and wish we could have a Collider Nightmares roundtable discussion of the film. I'd really be interested in hearing everyone's thoughts on this one! 🙂

Robert Wells III says:

Saw it opening day. It was scary but I found myself taken out of the film due to reaction of one of the main character during a disturbing scene. It was fine. But I not on the hype train either.

Tyler Schoon says:

Fantastic movie and one of the best horror films I've seen in years…until the end. It had such greater potential with the route I believed they were going. Felt like a more standard ending than it deserved.

Kazama Jas says:

that intro was lit

LulyTubee says:

🤔I define this movie as a… psychological suspense with a little mystery, a little supernatural (ghosts, possession, mediumship) elements. Just enough gory scenes and two authentic jump scares. With really good acting from the cast.

It's not the typical "scary horror movie" from now a days, however it can be. Some may find the supernatural scary and others may find the family struggles horrific. In all a very good movie.

David Ortega says:

Just watched it for the 2nd time an it went from an 8 to a 9.5 on my personal rate system 10 bein g The Witch and the babadook

Jay Kelley says:

Totally agree Perri. I was totally tuned into the movie until the end and because of that at least for me the movie sucked.

Also thought there was a lack of story line which may have been on purpose can considering how the movie ended.

kered loarded says:

So many videos lately, Perri you're spoiling us

Wabbajam Whooy says:

Thought the acting was pretty amazing. Realy good cinematography and score and well directed. Ending was indeed weird and stupid in my opinion. So anti climactic.

Wade Watts says:

So you loved the movie, but because you didn’t like the last 5 minutes you gave it a 3.5/5???

Steven Starr says:

Perri kicks ass!

verisimilidude1 says:

As usual, you make a convincing case, and I agree with virtually everything you said. Aster is certainly a singular talent and a director to watch. I liked Bryne a lot, and his understated, restrained performance was a welcome contrast to Collette's brilliantly manic portrayal of a woman desperate to maintain her sanity in a life she's increasingly helpless to control. I, too, had some problem with the ending. But my main concern had more to do with its derivative nature than anything else. Admittedly, I saw it coming, and as a consequence it was a bit of a letdown. If Aster the screenwriter had nailed his movie with a more original denouement, I might have left the cinema thinking this to be a GREAT film. It's still excellent overall IMO, and I'd give it a slightly more generous 4 out of 5 deweys…

David Rowe says:

Just saw this and I was blown away. I don't scare easy but I was terrified. All I'll say is the telephone post scene… I've never felt like that in my life. Pure horror.

Gantz:0 says:

"Go into it with as little info on plot." Proceeds to tell plot 😂😂😂😂😂

Anthony Wheeler says:

I want to see this movie!

Billy Pollihan says:

Scary Perri is the best Perri.

Albert Myles says:

Keep doing what you do Perri. You are by far my favorite person at Collider.

zodiacdrummer66 says:

Only a 3.5? Couldn't disagree more. This movie was fantastic. 4.5

Joey Merk says:

Starts reviewing Hereditary, Cat jumps on lap like an omen 🤔😂😂😂

David Alsbrooks Jr says:

You're gonna regret not giving this film a 4 or 4.5! Just re-think the status of the family at the end. People were breaking out in jokes because they were truly scared…in NYC! You don't see that very often. Can't wait to get your thoughts upon repeat viewing! 👍

Commander Starstrider says:

WTF….I think I just noticed that she dyes her hair….wtf color is that…auburn…..why not black? wtf….you are bullshit.

bumfree says:

What's your problem with the ending exactly? Is it ambiguous or does is it more disappointing than that?

cody gossett says:

I’ve been waiting for your thoughts on this movie for awhile now. Thank you perri
