Tips For “Getting Out Of The House” When You Need To, Without Spending Money

May 19, 2012 Category :Home Business Opportunities 0

Oftentimes, you might find yourself feeling like you simply need to “get out of the house” – and this is especially the case for those who either work from home or spend most of their time at home. One of the problems with “getting out of the house,” however is the fact that getting out of the house also usually entails spending money – either at a coffee shop, or at a deli, or just as you burn gas by driving around!

One great way for you to avoid spending money as you “get out of the house” is to go for a walk; by going for a walk, you can unwind in much the same way you would by driving around, but you can walk around your neighborhood and spend no money on gas, or you can drive to a nearby park or forest and only have to drive a short way.

Many people also find that exercising helps them to unwind a bit; you can exercise by going for a jog, or – if you have gym membership – you can drive there and get in a workout to relieve you of your tension.

Of course, sometimes, the last thing you want is some physical exertion; if this is the case, you can still “get out of the house” without spending money by driving to that same park where you would go for a walk, but by reading a book or lounging in the sun instead!

And finally, try to find a relaxing, “out of the house” activity that you enjoy doing – something such as painting, or photography, or fishing – and whenever you need to get out of your house for a bit, you can engage in this activity in a peaceful setting, all while keeping yourself from spending money.

When the tension of being home all day has started to build up, it can be nice to get out of the house; it can be even nicer, however, to get out of the house without having to spend money, and when you follow these tips, you will be able to do exactly that!

Tips For Watching Your Favorite Baseball Team

May 18, 2012 Category :Home Business Opportunities 0

If you are a baseball fan, and you live in the “viewing area” for your favorite team, you are in great shape for waching any of your team’s games you feel like watching. After all, it is likely that all the games are broadcast on one local cable channel or another, and with a basic cable package, you will never have to miss a game. You are a lot less likely to catch your team on television, however, if you live outside your team’s viewing area. Of course, most people do not have the time to sit down and catch every one of the 162 regular season games, but most fans like the option of tuning in when they want. Thankfully, there are now a number of great option that allow you to catch your team’s games.

If you have DirectTV, all you have to do is add the MLB package. This package is similar to the popular NFL Sunday Ticket package that DirectTV offers during the football season, in that it allows you to choose among all games. If you already subscribe to DirectTV, this package costs about $200.

You can also find other options for watching the games if you are not a DirectTV subscriber, and if you do not plan to become one! You can find both of these options by visiting the MLB website.

The first option is the basic MLB TV package, which costs $100 and allows you to watch all games online throughout the season. The second option is the MLB TV premier package, which costs only $20 extra and allows you to watch the games in HD quality, with DVR functionality. The premier package also allows you to pick which team’s announcers you will listen to, which the basic package does not allow.

Before making your purchase of the MLB TV package, however, take a moment to check and see which teams’ “viewing area” you live in. For every team whose viewing area you live in, MLB is required to black out those games. So for instance, if you live within a few hours of San Francisco, you will never be able to watch Giants games online!

Technology has made it much easier for displaced fans to keep up with their favorite teams. For just a bit of money, you will be able to tune in any time you want; it will almost feel like you are right back at home!

Saving Money By Tracking What You Spend

May 16, 2012 Category :Home Business Opportunities 0

It is very easy to spend money, and because of this, it is very easy to spend more money than you actually should. While there is surely no shortage of ways to try to curb your spending, most of these ways are difficult and even impractical. But by following one simple step, you can actually find that you are saving a lot more money than you even thought you would be able to.

image

The first thing you must do, before you take this simple step, is you must decide that you are motivated to start saving more money. After all, if you do not have the motivation to save money, you will not be able to save money, as there will always be something you “have to buy.” Having something specific for which you are saving money is a great way to gain the motivation for saving. This “something specific” might be a new computer, a new television, or even something bigger like a new car or a new house. You can even grow your money more by saving your money to invest it. Regardless of what you choose as your motivation for saving, you will be ready to start piling up money as soon as you have your motivation in mind.

Wise Formula of Investment.

Once you have established what this motivation for saving money is, you will be ready to take the one simple step: Write down everything you spend money on. This does not mean that you should only write down the big things you spend money on; this means you should write down every little thing! This might seem like a simple exercise, but over a month or two you will start to see all the exact places where your money goes. What’s more, this will enable you to realize how much those “little things” add up – and you will see how these little things cause you to spend money on things you do not even need.

There is no magic formula to saving money; but once you have a reason to save, and once you start to see all the little things you spend money on when you do not need them, you will realize how easy it is (and how rewarding it can be!) to save that money toward something important instead of spending it on little items.

Dog Grooming Tools

May 15, 2012 Category :Home Business Opportunities 0

Grooming your dog can be important for not only their health but yours as well. But for now we will focus on your dog. Grooming helps to keep your dog’s coat and skin healthy while contributing to their overall health. Different amounts of grooming is required for different dogs. Labs and shorthaired boxes require much less grooming than a sheltie or rough coated collie.

Trimming your dogs nails can also be a headache with only a set of hand clippers. Some dogs tolerate it well while others will fight you tooth and nail. For some dogs a better option is a cordless rotary tool This seems to disturb some dogs less then using hand clippers.

Shorthaired dogs only need to be brushed periodically through out the year. Ussually the heavies shedding time occurs during season changes. For them you may only require a single brush or two. A must have for a short haired breed is a curry brush.

A slicker brush is also something you might wish to consider.

Longhaired dogs need much more frequent brushing even as much so as once a week. If you wish to keep their coats nice you will also need a wider range of tools. You should start with a slicker brush. You will also most likely have to get a de-matting comb if you have a longhaired dog. A definite worth while brush for getting mats out of their coats. A shedding tool is a type of comb that allows you to pull their undercoat out, making a huge difference in their shedding.

How to Green Your Hair Care

May 14, 2012 Category :Home Business Opportunities 0

With all the craze of “going green” many people are discovering they can get rid of some of their chemical filled hair dyes, and shampoos for more environmentally friendly options. People don’t want to expose themselves or the environment to the chemicals any more so they are looking for alternatives.

Check your local health food store.  You may find a new option called a shampoo bar for your hair cleaning needs. Please note that these are not just your average bar of soap. These shampoo bars are formulated to nourish hair. These shampoos are much more mild then store bought shampoos.  They are created by saponifying many different oils to create soap. These bars of soap have a lot of glycerine in them, which is great for the hair and skin.

Many people find their hair is much more manageable and healthy without using soaps full of sulfate and sulfite. If you have soft water, it is easy to use these bars. People who suffer with hard water may have to do a herbal tea rinse after they wash their hair to remove any soap residue caused by the hard water.

Some people are beginning to dye their hair with henna. This is a plant that gives a very red tint to hair. This is extremely permanent and basically you will have to cut your hair to get rid of it once it is on. People who use this plant have anywhere from a orange red color all of the way to almost purple.  This is partially dependant on the color of your natural hair. As you continue to dye your hair with henna it becomes richer and darker in color. The hair shines a lot when you use henna and some people report that it helps reduce the curl in curly hair.

The only color henna can dye your hair is red, so if you see a package claiming to be black henna, or brown henna, don’t purchase it. Dangerous chemicals are sometimes used with henna to create these colors.  Make sure you look for body art quality henna also.  This type of henna is the least likely to contain chemicals. If you like red hair, henna will give you a color that won’t fade.

It is always interesting to see what is happening in the Going Green trend.  We will see if some of these alternatives catch on. You can find out more about these alternative treatments on many webpages and forums, so it is at least getting some following. Do a bit some further research on these issues if you are interested there is a lot to learn.

You Can Make Your Own Natural Skin Care Products

May 13, 2012 Category :Home Business Opportunities 0

With people becoming much more aware of what they are putting into their bodies it is no wonder that people are also starting to consider what they put on their skin also. If you pick up a bottle of facial soap or lotion and read the label, the first thing you will notice is now jam packed full of chemicals the products are. People should really avoid many of the chemicals that are on these lists.

You can really ditch the chemicals and go all natural very easily. There are a number of great books out there that clearly tell you how to create your own safe products out of antioxidant rich fruits, vitamin E filled oils, and natural products such as bee’s wax. One great book to consider is Better Basics For Your Home which not only speaks about easy to make products for your skin and hair but green cleaning ideas for all over your house. It is easy to make your own products from scratch and also fun. Consider how easy it is to make a simple lip balm.  It is a mix of bees wax, organic coconut oil, olive oil, and vanilla extract. You can store extra products in the fridge or freezer for later use. Or you can purchase a premade kit for making chap stick also.

You can toss your chemical laden soap too if you want to learn how to make your own soap. You can learn to create your own soap creations by reading The Natural Soap Book. By learning to make soaps from scratch you can tailor your soap to be more or less cleansing depending on your skin type. Gone are the days when lye based soap would peal your skin off.  Making soap is now an exact science. There is nothing better for your skin then a correctly made lye based soap.

Successful Event Planning

May 12, 2012 Category :Home Business Opportunities 0

You might feel a bit overwhelmed at first if you have been put in charge of event planning for some sort of event. After all, the success of the entire event now rests on your shoulders, and it can start to seem like you have no clue what you are doing! There is no need for you to worry, however; just follow these simple tips, and you will be able to plan an event with no problems at all!

When it comes to planning an event, the first key to success is getting a clear understanding of exactly what is expected of you as the event planner. For instance, if you are planning an event for work, it will be extremely important that you not only plan successfully, but that you plan successfully to your boss’s standards! The best option is to get a written set of instructions, but make sure you write everything down (and keep it all organized) if you are not given written instructions.

Becoming an event planner!

Another huge key to success will be knowing the budget you are working with, and working with this budget properly. You should start keeping track of every bit of your spending – before you even start spending money! In this way, you can know how much money will go to each part of the event, and you can correct things before you make an irreparable mistake. You should also make sure you make room for the unexpected by always leaving a bit of “cushion money” in the budget as you plan it all out.

Finally, you want to make sure that you do not handicap yourself by waiting too long to start planning; you should try to plan far in advance if you want to meet with success. In fact, you should start planning the event from the moment you receive the instructions to start planning the event! And if the person who is supposed to be giving you the instructions is dragging their feet, or if the instructions you have been given are unclear, you should do what you can to hustle things along.

It can be overwhelming when you are stuck with an event planning task – especially if you are not used to this – but it can become a whole lot easier when you follow these tips!

Ten Spring Activities To Get Your Kids Active

May 11, 2012 Category :Home Business Opportunities 0

Do you why so many American children are overweight? Children in the US are wasting too much time in front of televisions, computers, and video games. Get your child away from the TV and outside, doing something that challenges his body and mind. Check out this list of activities for ideas on how to get your kid to move.

Join a local sport team or club. Tennis lessons. Put up a volleyball net in your yard. A running club. Just find something that makes your child move.

Organize a neighborhood scavenger hunt. Coordinate with other parents in the neighborhood or apartment complex and set up a list of things your child and his friends need to find.

Set your child up to walk a dog. If you don’t have a dog, have your neighbor ask your child to please walk their dog for them, as a favor.

Gather together a bunch of neighbor kids for a big, multi-property hide and seek game. If your kids are older, set up a flashlight tag game for after dark.

Set up family games outside, like badminton. Set up the game and invite the cousins over.

Organize a jump rope competition. Have more than one type available; have individual competitions using Chinese jump ropes, short ropes, and long ropes where many people jump at once. Give out inexpensive prizes, like bubbles or silly string.

Sign your child up for active summer camps. Many community programs are dirt cheap and lots of fun.

Hand over the mowing responsibility. Most kids can take over at least half the yard by age ten.

Show the kids how to play Twister. Offer ribbons to the most flexible and strong kid who wins the most rounds.

Take your kid for a walk. Or try going for a long bike ride around the neighborhood. Or put up a basket ball hoop and start teaching him or her how to shoot. If you use exercise as a way to spend time with your children, they’ll be more eager to participate. Be a great example for your child and watch them follow in your footsteps!

Treating Poison Ivy

May 10, 2012 Category :Home Business Opportunities 0

While you might think of “ivy” as something beautiful and stately, you probably associate poison ivy with something entirely different; after all, poison ivy leaves a rash that can cause incessant itching for several weeks, and this is why it is important for anyone who spends time outside to know how to avoid and treat poison ivy.

Of course, avoiding poison ivy is your safest bet when it comes to poison ivy, and it is generally easy to spot for the way in which it grows: three leaves together, all with an almond shape. While poison ivy is not the only plant that can be described this way, anyone who is not an expert at identifying poison ivy will be wise to err on the safe side by avoiding all plants that fit this description.

image

If – despite your best efforts to avoid poison ivy – you end up coming in contact with the plant, the first thing you should do is thoroughly wash everything that might have come in contact with the plant; this includes not only your skin, but your clothes as well!

After you have done this, you should immediately take a bath; draw a cool bath, add about five cups of either ground oatmeal or baking soda, and soak in this concoction for about a half an hour. You can also cover the affected area with a homemade, salve-like paste created from baking soda and water.

Check out Home Remedies For Better Health!

A lot of people make the mistake of trying to keep themselves from scratching the rash by covering it, but you should actually leave the rash open to the air, as this will help it to heal much more quickly than if you cover it up.

You should have no problem getting your poison ivy to clear up in a week or two if you follow these steps, but if the problem becomes unbearable (and if you cannot refuse the urge to itch), visit your doctor, and allow him to prescribe something stronger!
